Wayne Ruff is a celebrated educator and leader in Winnipeg’s Louis Riel School Division whose over 50-year career spans roles as a teacher, coach, principal, administrator, and school trustee. A trailblazer in high school and post-secondary basketball, he coached provincial champions and helped launch Manitoba’s longest-running high school tournament, among other initiatives. As a school trustee and principal, Ruff played a pivotal role in shaping local school policies, promoting inclusive community spaces, and spearheading campus development projects. His exceptional service earned him numerous awards and a lasting tribute in the form of Wayne Ruff Park in St. Vital. Throughout, his commitment to education, sport, and cultural inclusion has made a profound and enduring impact on Winnipeg’s school communities.
